Howdy friends, I just wanted to take a few minutes to check in with the club and share some important updates.

Board Nominations – We Still Need You!

As many of you know, we held nominations for open board positions at our last meeting. I'll be honest — it was pretty quiet. No nominations came in, and even after making a personal plea for a new Secretary, no one stepped forward. I completely understand that life is busy, but our club truly needs a few good people to help keep things running smoothly.

Here's where we stand: our current Secretary, who has done a wonderful job, has graciously offered to shift over to the Treasurer role — and we are grateful for that. But that means her Secretary seat is now open and needs to be filled. On top of that, we are also looking for someone to step up as Hunt Master to help coordinate and organize our club hunts throughout the year.

These are not overwhelming commitments — they are ways to give back to a hobby and a community that gives us so much. If you have any interest at all, please reach out to me directly. We can make it official with a vote at our June meeting. Don't be shy — this club runs because of people like you.
In Loving Memory of "Uncle Fuzzy"

It is with a heavy heart that I also share the news of the passing of one of our most beloved long-time members, known to all of us simply as "Uncle Fuzzy." Over the decades he was part of this club, Uncle Fuzzy gave so much of himself — his time, his knowledge, his laughter, and countless volunteer hours that helped make this club what it is today. He was the kind of member every club hopes to have, and the kind of person you just never forget. We are so grateful he was one of us. Rest easy, friend. You will be deeply missed.

Exciting Times Ahead — New Tech for Metal Detectorists!
Now for something a little more upbeat — because honestly, it is a very exciting time to be a metal detectorist! The technology available to us right now is truly remarkable. New phone apps are popping up that give us tools we only dreamed about a few years ago — things like property ownership overlays, LiDAR mapping, geology layers, and so much more. These tools are changing the way we research and hunt, and I am loving every bit of it.

At our June meeting, I am going to do a short presentation on one particular app that I think is going to blow your minds. It has features that are genuinely ground breaking for our hobby, and — here is the really exciting part — as a club, we may be eligible for a special group offer. I don't want to give too much away just yet, so stay tuned!

Last but certainly not least — have you noticed how many new faces have been showing up at our last few meetings?
The growth in new membership has been awesome to see, and I want to give a big warm Gold Country welcome to everyone who has recently joined us. You picked a great time to get involved. We are glad you are here!
